About Two Row Global Trade Alliance
Our Vision
The Two Row Global Trade Alliance (TRGTA) is an Indigenous-led organization founded on the principles of the Two Row Wampum Treaty (Guswenta). This historic agreement, a core part of Haudenosaunee law, envisioned a relationship of mutual respect and autonomy—a partnership where two peoples travel down the river of life in their own vessels, a canoe and a ship, without interfering with one another's journey.
Inspired by this enduring wisdom, we are dedicated to revitalizing and strengthening Indigenous global trade. For millennia, our ancestors were skilled traders and innovators, building vast and complex trade routes that connected diverse communities. These ancient networks were a source of economic strength and cultural exchange. However, colonization and subsequent policies disrupted these vital connections, severing our people from the global economy.
The TRGTA is a direct response to this history. We are a collective of Indigenous entrepreneurs, nations, and communities committed to reclaiming our rightful place in the world of commerce. Our mission is to build a sustainable and equitable future for our people by:
